CVLT NATION:

"Instrumental DOOM Reigns SUPREME, and when it’s done right it’s magical! CLOUDS TASTE SATANIC are with their new album entitled Cloud Covered and it’s straight FIRE! Over the course of ten tracks, the band reworks classic songs from Elton John to Nirvana plus many more. Giving all of the covers the heavy down-tuned treatment that will put a smile on your face and make you say CLOUDS really do TASTE SATANIC!"

SLEEPING VILLAGE REVIEWS:

"The world's singlemost prolific (and consistently good!) instrumental post-doomsters are back in business after a remarkably short break--if ye recall, their singles series dropped, like, um, a month ago. On Cloud Covered, Clouds Taste Satanic deliver ten potent covers of tracks that have had a distinct influence on their craft. This, notably, does not disqualify bands and songs outside of the arena of doom and gloom. As such, tracks by unexpected acts such as Elton John, Bachman Turner Overdrive, Flaming Lips, and Cheap Trick make appearances. By virtue of their intrinsic riff-centric sound, these covers are significantly heftier than the originals, but even with a lack of vocals their spirit shines through across the board. A masterclass in how to deliver a cover album that simultaneously pays homage and feel like a fresh endeavor. If you like these guys--or stoner/doom in general--don't pass this one up."

DENPAFUZZ:

"The new album presents versions of songs that have had a profound influence on the band but are not necessarily from the Metal / Doom genre we are used to, but the truth is that in this album they acquire a new dimension. It may seem daring to include in the same album versions of musicians and bands as diverse as Elton John, Nirvana, Pink Floyd, Cheap Trick, Flaming Lips, Black Sabbath, Bachman Turner Overdrive or The Pixies, but CLOUDS TASTE SATANIC, they do it without any shame and the result is simply outstanding. We already know how New Yorkers spend them, a band that in its beginnings explored the sounds of doom giving them a special touch and that in each work its evolution and maturity are noted, elaborating each song more. Sometimes it is not easy to reach the public with instrumental albums, but these guys know exactly how to do it, and ' CLOUD COVERED ' is irrefutable proof of that."

HELLFIRE MAGAZIN:

"Clouds Taste Satanic , not a doom metal band like any other anyway, is predestined for this cover approach. Quartet from New York has everything that characterizes Doom Metal: their own pieces are difficult, slow and long - between 5 and 20 minutes. But it doesn't have one thing, and this minus is in principle a plus: Contrary to what the name suggests, Clouds Taste Satanic are not a bit pretentious. Their music is free of any clichés and therefore enjoyable even for people who are not in the mood for metal. But maybe on the artists whose pieces the band on Cloud Covered take on. These artists have one thing in common: they are part of the mainstream. They are called Elton John, Bachmann Turner Overdrive or Cheap Trick. Black Sabbath and Pink Floyd are also represented. So most of the listeners will know most of the pieces. The nice thing about it: You still don't recognize the pieces immediately. Because a) as always with Clouds Taste Satanic there is no vocals and b) the pieces develop their own aesthetic, they basically become pieces of the band. Or doom metal for everyone. One should listen to that."

9 out of 10 Hellfire points.

KOBZR MAGAZINE:

"Cloud Covered", the masterpiece by CLOUDS TASTE SATANIC is already a strong piece of melodies that get under your skin and, after a short listen, convinces from beginning to end. Sometimes dragging, sometimes driving Doom sound storm with sweet melodies, often interrupted by dreamy, orchestrated passages and unobtrusive spherical soundscapes. With a convincing dynamic that conveys an unbelievable range and continuously varying intensity of emotions. The production, which illuminates and illuminates all the nuances, also has a supportive effect. With this selection of cover versions, CLOUDS TASTE SATANIC have set the course for success, and it is to be hoped that they will continue to strike a balance between continuity and further development. " that the quiet moments can be at least nearly as effective. This is also noticeable on the album as a whole, because that is exactly when the album begins to grow further."

THE PIT OF THE DAMNED:

"CTS are a stratospheric band, with splendid productions even when they are channeled into works of pure fun, nostalgic and very personal taste. The disc is very pleasant, with a fabulous cover artwork (another excellent feature of theirs), a crazy sound groove for a set of songs, which played like this, also allows you to forget the legitimate owners of the compositions, so much so that the sound is homogeneous , personal and with a perfect logical thread in its sequence, organized just like a real album. Then, Pixies, Pink Floyd, Nirvana, Chicago, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, Elton John, Flamming Lips and many other anthems, filtered from the doom heart of these New York musicians, will appear to us as new proposals, and for an hour or so we will be projected to the rediscovery of excellent songs and an exciting band, for a journey into the mind and tastes of one of the most interesting psychedelic realities that the world of current rock has given us. The saga and the myth of the CTS uses another precious stone. Super recommended listening."

CONFINED ROCK!:

I have to admit that I am not a huge fan of cover records. In fact, I don't find it particularly exciting when musicians cover other musicians' pieces. But there is always an exception that surprises me. And without a doubt Clouds Taste Satanic has made me enjoy a lot and especially rediscover, versions interpreted in a very peculiar way and by putting on my headphones to listen to this album they have made me travel through sounds and good music. In other words: I don't find instrumental versions of voiced songs boring in themselves, but often extremely uninteresting. However, the reason that this wonderful album redeems me with the Covers: is that being versions without the voice allow me to see much better the architecture of the respective pieces universally because they do it without words. Clouds Taste Satanic , they are not a doom metal band like any other, they are magically predestined for this approach to Covers. The New York quartet has everything that characterizes Doom Metal: their own pieces are difficult, slow and long, between 5 and 20 minutes, they captivate and hypnotize you from the beginning. Clouds Taste Satanic are nothing pretentious. His music is free of clichés and therefore enjoyable even for people who are not very related to metal. But of course maybe they will surely be attracted to the themes of the artists whose pieces they cover in this Cloud Covered . One thing unites these covered artists: it is that they are clearly part of the history of music. Elton John, Bachmann Turner Overdrive or Cheap Trick. Black Sabbath and Pink Floyd all a stardom of artists. So, most listeners will know perfectly most of the themes that we will find in this wonderful journey through the history of music, although Clouds Taste Satanic do not make it easy at all since the versions develop their own aesthetics, basically they become almost new songs from the band. I said a peculiar and very interesting cover album and of course a doom metal album for everyone."

ORANGEMAZE:

"Cover albums are kind of a hit or miss thing for bands. Clouds Taste Satanic know how it’s done. This record makes you want to listen to the originals again and look for the changes, similarities and different nuances between both versions. And to me that’s always a good sign. They make songs that aren’t their own sound like their own. And that’s basically how you do a cover album."

ALBUMREVIEWZOFFICIAL:

"CLOUDS TASTE SATANIC formed in 2013 and they are from Brooklyn, New York, USA. Their music style is Instru-Metal Post Demonic Doom, Stoner Metal. “Cloud Covered” is the title of the new album and as the title say they offer us an album with covers to great songs but instrumental! First of all I must tell about their great f***in’ killer production. Then I must give my congratulations to Alexander Goulet about his fantastic cover art work. Now about the songs… They choose to cover “Funeral For A Friend” by Elton John, “Behind The Wall Of Sleep” by BLACK SABBATH (of course!), “Blew” by NIRVANA, “Sleeping On The Roof” by THE FLAMING LIPS, “Not Fragile/Free Wheelin’” by BACHMAN-TURNER OVERDRIVE. But the biggest surprise is the following covers where I will give them a huge thumbs up! “If You Leave Me Now” by CHICAGO but they renamed it as “If You Doom Me Now” (!!!), “Also Sprach Zarathustra” by Richard Strauss (a classical great theme covered by CLOUDS TASTE SATANIC and now any stoner/doom band can use it as an intro on live performances!), “Cecilia Ann/Rock Music” by PIXIES, “Auf Wiedersehen” by CHEAP TRICK and “In The Flesh?/One Of These Days” by PINK FLOYD. Great covers by these great musicians! CLOUDS TASTE SATANIC!!!"

WORLD OF METAL:

"I know I've already talked about this release partially since part of the themes here were being released in four volumes/singles, and here there are two new versions, being “Not Fragile / Free Wheelin'” by Bachman-Turner Overdrive and “In the Flesh? / One of These Days” by Pink Floyd, which appear as masterful versions, by the way, as usual. Although they don't sound very far from the original in terms of melody, the stoner/doom context and the fact that they are instrumental make all these classics sound even more pertinent in this context. I never tire of repeating that this was an excellent idea and recommended not only to the band's fans but to anyone who likes a good dose of reinterpreted mandatory songs. Those to listen to over and over again. 9/10"

VERBAL AGGRESSION:

"I fell in love with with Clouds Taste Satanic the very first time I experienced their psychedelic doom. That was 7 years ago and the New York 4-piece have gone from strength to strength, culminating in the glorious ‘Satanic Singles’ series and this covers album (some of the tracks overlap onto both releases). Those limited 7″ singles sold out in record time so to be able to hear these interpretations is wonderful! The tracks chosen are ones that influenced the band in some way or another, with a couple of choices eye-openers while others not so. The opening ‘Funeral For A Friend’ (originally by Elton John) is a particular highlight, not only as its a surprise choice but Clouds Taste Satanic do it so much justice as they turn it into one of their own. This album may contain the best cover version ever in the shape of soft rockers Chicago‘s ‘If You Doom Me Now’! You seriously can’t help singing and dancing to this gloriously campy version. Fucking amazing! The Flaming Lips are an obvious influence on the band and it’s no surprise to find ‘Sleeping On The Roof’ included here. I could go on and name every track as each has its own wonders to offer, you will have to find out for yourself what the other choices are! Clouds Taste Satanic have triumphed once again! Oh, did I mention its instrumental? Thought not."

GLACIALLY MUSICAL:

"In the end, this is an amazing damned record."
